Live Sound, Not Looped Files
Audio is synthesized on the fly at 48 kHz in 32-bit floating point. Because every wave is generated mathematically, you avoid MP3 compression artifacts and abrupt volume jumps from looping audio tracks.
PhaseHarbor is an Android app for experimenting with alternating tones, binaural and monaural beats, and isochronic pulses. Customize your sound with noise layers and ambient audio.
I’m building it to work without subscriptions, ads, or tracking.
I started PhaseHarbor because I wanted one app where I could experiment with all the different types of beats: alternating, binaural, monaural, and isochronic. I wanted to adjust the settings myself and mix in noise or ambient sounds, without needing a different app for each combination.
Having control over the sound was only part of it. I also wanted to use it without a subscription, without ads interrupting, and without being tracked.
The settings I enjoy won’t suit everyone, so I’m building it with room for you to experiment. Try different combinations, save the ones you like, and return to them whenever you choose. You can keep your presets to yourself or export one to share with someone else.
How sound is generated mathematically and why data stays on your phone.
Audio is synthesized on the fly at 48 kHz in 32-bit floating point. Because every wave is generated mathematically, you avoid MP3 compression artifacts and abrupt volume jumps from looping audio tracks.
A built-in digital limiter caps peak audio at -1.0 dBFS across all active layers. Smooth cosine fade envelopes ramp the sound up and down whenever you pause or switch presets, eliminating sudden clicks.
When you find a combination you like, you can export the preset to keep a copy or share it with a friend. Preset files contain sound settings only—never your listening history or personal notes.
I’m currently testing PhaseHarbor across different Android devices. I’d love to hear what you’re trying to do and what could work better. You can email me directly.
